Farm, quarry, and mill were important components in the early regional economy. The remnants of these, captured in Northeast Bedrock, underlie today's social and economic landscape just as stone bedrock forms the foundation of today's physical landscape. As a geologist I recognize that rocks have a history and tell a story if you know how to read it. Weathering over the years highlights strengths, exposes weaknesses, creates texture and mutes color. So it is with buildings. There is an allure to old buildings that is fundamental. We are left with reminders of what once was vibrant, aged into textures and forms that stir the imagination.
